Ever wonder why "Fast Food" is so appealing?

Stop and think. Keep thinking.
Think harder.....

Why do you like the foods that you like? Taste...Price...Availability????

As a group, we decided to search for the real reasons why fast food is so irresistible. In our research, we have found that price, availability and lifestyle play large roles in why Americans consume so much fast food. With a new fast food chain popping up on every corner, it is no wonder Americans will consume fast food more regularly than they will cook food at home. We will touch upon reasons for people's intake of unhealthy food as well as the benefits of eating healthier.

Through the magic of documentary and interview we, as a collaborative group, will hopefully reveal the mystery of Why We Eat Garbage.

Introduction

The following documentary, Why We Eat Garbage, collectively combines our research and technical skills. The documentary shows clips of food from Shoprite, pictures of people shopping, a college student ordering fast food, and a mother of two preparing fresh healthier food. We included clips from two interviews we conducted before about being addicted to food and the American mentality of never being satisfied in our lifestyles. And of course, the shots of fast food restaurant logos, a few quotes and statistics, and narration by Phil Cole.

Afterward

This documentary was a challenge for us to put together. The actual composition of our interviews and facts was the most difficult part. For the documentary, Phil used Windows Movie Maker to edit through our findings. He placed a voice over and music as well as the interviews around the clips of supermarkets and fast food restaurants that Nina and Jorie recorded. There were two interview that were recorded by camera and the others were recorded using an RCA voice recorder. We hoped to answer the question: Why We Eat Garbage, and in some ways we did. We found that peoples lifestyles, to a large extent, dictate their eating habits. A college student, like Jim Lange, who has a fast paced lifestyle prefers to eat on the go and therefore will buy fast food 4-5 times a week. His lifestyle fuels his cravings for Wendy's. As for Helena Cerquoni, a slower lifestyle has prompted her to eat better foods more often than someone who is on the  go. This also ties into the interviews that we had with Dr. Spencer and Mrs. Malloy-Church. After finding the answer to Why We Eat Garbage, we want to know How We Can Stop Eating Garbage.
